Lazy Old Bastards

I, as a Republican, am getting sick and tired of all those lazy low lifes we call "senior citizens." These shiftless bastards just sit around, sometimes in chairs with wheels attached so they don't even have to use their legs. Some of these ingrates even have machines to breath for them instead of using their own lungs. There are even some who are so lazy they don't even eat, but instead use feeding tubes to deliver nourishment to their indolent bodies.

How lazy can you get?

And not only do these idle silver haired devils sit around all day, we pay for them to be inactive and lounging about like welfare cheats. We pay for their social security, as well as their medicare, and even their, gasp, drugs!

Now these worst of the worst welfare grannies and grandpas are getting even more of a handout thanks to the Democrats. Our fearless leader attempted to veto a terrible bill, which would have restored cuts to doctors who only perpetuate this class of slothful citizens by providing medical care to them, as if they had taken some kind of oath or something.

But the Democrats overrode Commander Guy's veto, and broke his, and my, heart today.

These sluggish seniors are bleeding our country dry. Look, we can't have both a fun little 100-year war in Iraq and healthy seniors. What do you think this is, Finland?

I can just hear all those bleeding heart liberals now, citing the latest report funded by Oxfam America, the Rockefeller Foundation and the Conrad Hilton Foundation, stating that the United States has fallen to in the development index.

Look, extending life expectancy beyond 42nd in the developed world is just for pussies! You Americans are just whiners!

Don't you people understand welfare is for corporations! Afterall, corporations are people, too. By giving these sluggards health care, you are only keeping them dependent on us working folk, instead of teaching them to pick themselves up by their bootstraps.

Of course, when I am 70, I want all of you to pay my way. It's the only Christian thing to do.

I get your satire here..but..they were wrong to override his veto. I work for a very large healthcare practice. We provide primary care services to over 50,000 medicare members. So..you're wondering how I could support a 10.6% cut in physician payments?

Those cuts were to the physician groups who won't move to the medicare advantage plans. These are the fee-for-service physicians who continue to drive up the costs to medicare. The Medicare Advantage plan works and it works very well. The physicians out there who are still fee-for-service are the ones responsible for all the fraud and abuse in the system. Congress just approved the perpetuation of an failed system.

The problem is, again, Bush didn't do a good enough job of educating the people as to why he was vetoing that bill. Congress just continued the growth of Medicare unnecessarily. I thought you were for smaller government?

Believe me, I've been in this field for over 18 years now and have watched Medicare evolve. He was not cutting services to patients. He was trying to increase services to the majority of seniors who are on the advantage plan. Now, because of an inept congress, those primary care services to the majority of seniors will go unfunded. They and the media played to the initial fears of the general public and did nothing to educate them. Instead, it makes them look like heroes when in fact they are even bigger losers and are seniors are as well.

A boat load of senior citizens just lost funding for their primary care services because Congress wanted to make the government controlled side of Medicare bigger.
