After what appears to be a nail biter in the 20th congressional district in upstate New York, the Republican Jim Tedesco is trailing by only 86 votes in the super white, Republican-leaning district. With approximately 1200 ballots being challenged by Tedesco and his Democrat challenger Scott Murphy, it looks like the end is nowhere in sight for this election. And just like the election for the junior senate seat in Minnesota, it seems this one may also be heading to the courts.Americans are in love with the Republicans again! The fact that we are only trailing by less than a hundred votes in a district, which had been going for Republicans from 1993 to 2006, says the tide is turning for us. Nothing says "we're back" like a court challenge. Unless it's losing to a dead guy.
Sure, we may be making silly challenges, like the absentee ballot of the Senator, and former 20th district representative, Kirsten Gillibrand appointed by Governor David Paterson to replace now Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, but we are clawing our way back to the top, one frivolous, pathetic, embarrassing challenge at a time.
I just can't wait until the first special post-Tax Day elections to see how far behind we are in traditionally Republican strong holds by then. This is sweet. Not as sweet as winning, but, hey whom are we kidding. After the train wreck we caused over the last eight years, I think this is as close as we can get to a victory lap.
At this rate, we may not get to Palin/Plumber by 2012, but we sure can make it by 2040. Of course by then it will be Bristol Palin and Joe the Plumber III. Sphere: Related Content
