Robert Byrd Hospitalized With Temperature Spike

West Virginia is a strange little state, voting heavily Democratic for most state and national positions, but voting Republican for President. Indeed, if Hillary Clinton had been on the ticket, they probably would have voted Democratic again as in 1992. Obama lost there, because of his race. The state has a lot of racial baggage, which they cannot seem to shake. It is an historic oddity, since West Virginia was carved out of the renegade Virginia, which seceded with the rest of the South, mostly because the western counties had few slaves.
