An Airbus 330 flying from Brazil to France went down in a storm this week, leaving few clues as to the cause. The plane reported back to Air France that an electrical failure and a loss of cabin pressure had occurred, but no distress signal was ever sent.Brazilian, American, and French ships and planes are now searching for the black boxes from the doomed flight. But the wreckage may lie under as much as three miles of water, making recovery difficult.
The clock is ticking, since the black boxes—actually colored bright orange—have batteries, which is last for just two weeks.
The only other fatal crash of an Airbus 330 was during a test flight. Sphere: Related Content
