Karl Malden Leaves Home without It

Karl Malden, the Academy Award-winning actor from A Streetcar Named Desire, has died at age 97.

Malden was best known for his role in the 1970's drama The Streets of San Francisco, where he played a saged dective to a then-young Michael Douglas.

But most will remember him for the series of commercials he did for American Express, where he warned travelers "Don't leave home without it."

His other roles included a portrayal of General Omar Bradley in Patton, as well as the love interest of Mama Rose from the original film adaptation of Gypsy.

Karl Malden, 1912-2009.

I'm quite sorry to see that, matter of fact, this is the first news I have heard of it.

Condolences to his family.

If you happen to come across his autobiography, it is worth reading. A thoughtful guy who took his craft seriously and worked with a lot of very interesting actors in some great movies.

he was a fine actor. I really admired and liked this guy. his acting was riviting and genuine.
I will miss him. I immediately thought of the scene where he pulls up and screams "Baby Dolllll, Baby Dollllll.. Get Down Here.."

and on the waterfront "This Is MY Church Boys.."

Classic Malden callin the shots up in the big squadroom in the sky.
