Sarah Palin Resigns

Sarah Palin, the one-time Vice Presidential candidate on the bottom of the ticket, literally underneath John McCain, has announced today she will resign. Lt. Governor Sean Parnelli will assume control of the largest state in the union (by size) and the 47th largest state (by population).

Palin did not give a reason for her resignation, although Fox News reported it would permit her to be able to run for President three years from now, without having the burden of being both governor and candidate.

Fox News may have a point. After all, I can't think of a single Governor who ran for President while still in office. Can't think of a single one. Unless you consider Romney, Huckabee, Bush, Clinton, Carter, and Richardson. But then again, only three of those won.

And they were governors of real states, not ice-filled miniature planet Hoths.

Time will tell if Palin uses the old excuse of wanting to spend more time with her family, possibly to prevent Willow from getting knocked up by age 17.

Palin is now the third Repbulican governor to be rocked by scandal in as many weeks.

Republican governors are being more endangered than wolves in Alaska during a Palin hunting flyover.

Hard to see what she has in mind here. Her sole entry on her resume was her job as governor, which is now gone.

She seems concerned about dealing with all the investigations and stories about her and her family. In politics there is a saying that if you can't stand the heat then get out of the kitchen, which it appears is what she is doing. Not exactly a reassuring move from someone who wants to be our next president.

I think she has decided to cash in before everyone finally gets it about her. In the meantime she can continue to soak the dopes on the Republican right who still think she is a hot political item.

This will not go down as a good summer for the GOP.

She is EVIL. I think another problem will surface. I love when someone is elected to a 4 year term and they bow out after 2.5 years.

I think she made a wise decision.

She abandoned the Alaskan citizens who needed her for governor. That won't look good on her resume to run for president.

More will be revealed. I read someone today who said if she does run for president, we'll have hours of hilarity to blog about. I'm praying she doesn't. I got so sick of it last time I'm still pretty much fed up. Remember the Thanksgiving video with the turkeys being slaughtered in the background.

It was embarrassing for all of America that someone could become that much of a laughing stock. I hope we don't have to go through it again.

Blanca...read Mudflats. You will be in for some big surprises. Palin is in huge trouble legally...and it will break next week I believe.

The Alaskan bloggers know her well...and they are pretty sure they know what is coming down the pike. The woman is finished.

I agree with Bob, aiming for a higher position is not an enough reason for her to leave her post She should have stayed so that she could prove that she could do well in government.

she is now a quitter and who wants a quitter in office. what little credibility i had for her is no more.

Ooooopppps ! she's gonna be standing in front of the citizens of alaska for her dirt, reeeeeallll soon.
trust that. word done leaked out bout her financial mismanagement, and her other lil foibles.

She betta hire tina fey to stand in for her ass; and pray she remembers to bring them donated clothes.

I was under the impression that her term ended in 2010, unless I heard wrong, but if that's true how could being Governor interfere with her running for President?

Oh I how I wish we could quit hearing about her. The state if probably better off without her; but she had a responsibility, she made a commitment and she is a quitter...how does that qualify her to be able to do anything else? Even with the religious right?
